Haven Ford Named 2023 Miss Kentucky Basketball

Haven Ford just became Rowan County’s first ever Miss Kentucky Basketball winner after having a phenomenal high school career. As far as this year was concerned, Ford found herself all over the Kentucky leaderboards, much like she has in past seasons. The KHSAA tracks five individual statistical categories: scoring, rebounding, field goal percentage, free throw percentage, and three-point field goals per game. Ford found herself in the top 50 in four of those five categories by the end of the season.

  • • #4 in scoring (26.1 PPG)
  • • #6 in rebounding (12.5 RPG)
  • • #26 in free throw percentage (79.1%)
  • • Tied #49 in three-point field goals per game (2.3 makes per game)

However, that is just what she has accomplished this season. She’s been putting up impressive numbers since she was in the 7th grade. By the time she was an 8th grader, she was already being named to All-State teams (Herald Leader 2nd Team; Courier Journal 3rd Team). She was also already a team captain by her 8th grade season. Fast forward to now and she has been a 3x 1st Team All-State selection for both the Herald Leader and Courier Journal.

Ford has scored 3,326 points, grabbed 1,459 rebounds, thrown 750+ assists, and came up with 670+ steals across her Varsity career at Rowan County High School. She is her school’s all-time leading scorer, all-time assists leader, and the all-time steals leader. She has either received or been nominated for nearly every award possible, including being named a McDonald’s All-American nominee and a Gatorade Player of the Year finalist. Earlier in the evening, Haven was actually honored as the winner of the Donna L.J. Murphy Award as well, an award honoring “standout female senior basketball player who exemplifies the meaning of being a great student athlete.” Haven will be suiting up for Murray State University next season.

Congratulations to the 2023 Miss Kentucky Basketball winner, Haven Ford!!
