Sponsored by Community Trust Bank:
Nylaia Carter
Each week throughout this season, Rise Up will feature a Player of the Week from each of the 4 main area codes across the state. We just wrapped up the fifth week of the season and the votes are in!! Read below about Nylaia Carter, the 502 Player of the Week for this week.
Carter was not only voted Player of the Week, but she also announced her college commitment this week! Here is the nomination we received for Carter in week five:
ALL Tournament Team at Tates Creek Swishmas Tournament, scoring 18 points in championship against Scott Co.
Continued in the Madisonville Christmas Tournament with a 1st round 15 point, 8 assist, 5 steals, 5 rebounds against Webster County.
Followed up the next night with a 18 point, 1 rebound, 1 steal, 1 assist performance against Franklin-Simpson.
Nylaia also committed to Millikin University on 12/31/23 to continue her academic and athletic career
Carter has faced a lot of trials and adversity in her high school career, but she is clearly determined to finish stronger than ever. She has helped Central start off the season with a 12-3 record and is the Yellowjackets 2nd leading scorer through the first 14 games, averaging 9.9 PPG and shooting nearly 50% from the field. Carter is also one of their leading 3-point shooters, shooting 35.3% from the perimeter. She is a difference maker defensively as well and is willing to take on any defensive challenge that is thrown at her. Carter’s really made her presence known this season and will continue to do so as the season goes on. She also just announced this week that she has committed to Millikin University where she will continue her athletic career, so we want to give a big congratulations to Nylaia Carter for that as well!
Carter received 224 votes to win the 502 poll.
