Rise Up 502 Player of the Week
Sponsored by Community Trust Bank:
Bethlehem Banshees
Each week throughout this season, Rise Up will feature a Player of the Week from each of the 4 main area codes across the state. We just wrapped up the ninth week of the season and the votes are in!! Read below about the Bethlehem Banshees Basketball team, the 502 Player of the Week for this week.
Obviously this week’s winner is not a player, but rather an entire team. However, the Banshees are very deserving of this honor after displaying ultimate strength last week at the All A Classic.
Just hours before they were set to play, they had a decision to make: forfeit their game in the face of tragedy or come together and play the game with very heavy hearts. Everyone would’ve understood if they chose the first option. No one outside of the program could possibly fathom what their players, parents, and staff were going through and I think to most, playing a game might have felt like an impossible task. However, as a team, they chose the latter option and that resulted in the best opening round game of the day.
Unfortunately, they fell short of the victory, but even stepping foot on the court that night was a victory in the eyes of every person watching from the outside. They showed what it means to truly come together as a family and how to support one another in the worst of times. And they will be stronger because of it.
The Banshees received 462 votes to win the 502 poll this week.
We send our deepest condolences to the Clayton family and to the entire Bethlehem community.
