Riley Compton
Each week throughout this season, Rise Up will feature a Player of the Week from each of the 4 main area codes across the state. We just wrapped up the fourth week of the season and the votes are in!! Read below about Riley Compton, the 606 Player of the Week for this week.
Through Floyd Central’s first 10 games, Compton is averaging a double-double, leading her team in both scoring and rebounding. She’s averaging 21 PPG and 15 RPG. Her 15 rebounds per game currently have her in the top 3 on the state’s leaderboard for rebounding. In week 4, Riley Compton once again notched two more double-doubles. In a victory over Jenkins, she scored 24 points and grabbed 12 rebounds while shooting 56.2% from the field and going a perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line. The very next day, Compton followed up that performance with a HUGE double-double: 31 points and 16 rebounds. She scored 31 of her team’s 46 total points and shot 72.2% from the field while once again shooting a perfect percentage from the free throw line (5-for-5 FT’s). Compton definitely deserves to get a lot of recognition for the way she’s been performing consistently in the start of her senior season and watch for her to continue putting up impressive numbers as the season goes on!
Compton received 203 votes to win the 606 poll.
