Rise Up 859 Player of the Week
Sponsored by Community Trust Bank:
Braylin Terrell
Each week throughout this season, Rise Up will feature a Player of the Week from each of the 4 main area codes across the state. We just wrapped up the sixth week of the season and the votes are in!! Read below about Braylin Terrell, the 859 Player of the Week for this week.

I have to include the nomination we received for Terrell because it perfectly illustrates why she was nominated and deserving of this award:
Braylin helped lead the Bearcats to their first 8th Region All A Championship in two years. In the three game tournament, she averaged 10 PPG/9 RPG with multiple blocks per game. She shot a perfect 8/8 from the field in the semifinal game vs. Eminence. Her defense and rim protection were outstanding, and she was named tournament MVP.
Through Walton-Verona’s first 17 games, Terrell is averaging a double-double: 11.6 PPG and 10 RPG. She is shooting 55.6% from the field and has been putting her shot blocking skills on full display. In fact, I really wish KHSAA tracked blocks in their statistics because I can’t imagine Terrell wouldn’t be leading the state in that category. Her timing and decision making when it comes to blocking shots is truly special. She can contribute in every statistical category and she plays a very unselfish style of basketball. This season, Terrell made history by recording Walton-Verona’s first ever triple-double in girls basketball. She has had a terrific junior season so far and don’t expect her to slow down in the 2nd half of the season!
