Rise Up Player of the Week: Anna Drakeford

Drakeford is a junior at Mercer County High School. She has been the Titans floor general all season long after coming back from a knee injury she suffered last season. She has had to play a much larger role than originally anticipated this season as Mercer County lost their 2023 star, Timberlynn Yeast, to a knee injury in the pre-season. How has she responded? Well, she is her team’s leading scorer and rebounder, plus she has the highest field goal percentage out of all of the player’s that have played in every game.
Drakeford is averaging 15.9 PPG and 5.9 RPG, while shooting 49.2% overall and 32.1% from 3. She was just named to the 2nd Team All-Region team for her accomplishments this season. One of those accomplishments is scoring her 1,000th career point. She now has over 1,200 career points and she has grabbed over 400 rebounds.
She was nominated for her stellar performances last week. Against Pulaski County, she had a double-double: 25 points and 10 rebounds. She also grabbed 4 steals and had 3 assists in the Titans’ victory. She followed up that game with another 20+ point game versus Southwestern. Drakeford finished with 21 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 assists to lead her team to a 55-42 win.
Congratulations to Rise Up Sports Blog Player of the Week for Week 12, Anna Drakeford!!
