Rise Up Sports Player of the Week: Niah Rhodes

Niah Rhodes is currently a sophomore at Frederick Douglass High School. She is not only her team’s leading scorer, but she’s also one of the leading scorers in the state (currently 5th on the leaderboards). Rhodes is averaging 24 PPG and 4.8 RPG. She’s shooting 43.3% from 3 on 90 attempts. Last week, she scored 38 points, grabbed 5 rebounds, and went 11/17 from deep in a 90-61 win over Lawrence County.

Rhodes is one of the top shooters around. She can knock down shots from deep range and she barely needs any space at all to get them off. She can hit on the move, off of the dribble, off of the catch, etc. Rhodes can score inside or out though. She can knock down mid-range jumpers or get to the rim and she’s got good handles, so she’s a tough defensive assignment. I’m not sure if she’s already eclipsed the 1,000 point mark as there’s some stat reports missing, but if she hasn’t, she’s about 1 game away from hitting that milestone. She finished her freshman season as the 6th best 3-point shooter in the state, and she is currently the overall leader in the state for this season (4.9 3-point FG per game).

Congratulations to the Rise Up Sports Blog Player of the Week for Week 3, Niah Rhodes!!
