Each week throughout this season, Rise Up will feature a Player of the Week from each of the 4 main area codes across the state. We just wrapped up the fifth week of the season and the votes are in!! Read below about Anna Drakeford, the 859 Player of the Week for this week.

Anna Drakeford just became the 1st player to be voted Rise Up Player of the Week twice this season as she also won in week three! Here is the reason Drakeford was nominated in week five:
In the 4 Bank Winter Classic at Garrard County Anna averaged 32 points per game, 7.7 rebounds per game, 5.7 steals per game, and 5.6 assists per game. Including a career high 37 points against Scott High.
Game Stats:
vs Scott-37 points, 12 rebounds, 5 steals, and 5 assistsvs Hazard-36 points, 7 rebounds, 7 steals, and 7 assists
vs East Jessamine-23 points, 4 rebounds, 5 steals, and 4 assists
She was already having an impressive start to her senior season at Mercer County, but her numbers just keep on getting more and more spectacular. Usually you’ll see a players averages start going down around the midseason point as more games are played, but not Drakeford. In week three, Drakeford was averaging 23.8 PPG and 6 RPG through 8 games. After week five, now through 13 games, her averages are up to 28 PPG and 6.1 RPG. That doesn’t even account for the steals and assists she has been consistently getting in every single game as she leads the Lady Titans. And what the stats don’t show is the kind of player Drakeford is beyond talent: a very smart, extremely hardworking leader who has really overcome adversity and stepped up no matter what gets thrown at her.
Drakeford received 156 votes to win the 859 poll.
