The Bluegrass Cardinal Classic gave high school teams and players the opportunity to play in front of college coaches in a much different way than what you typically see. Normally, college coaches chance to view players comes with their AAU teams at live events. The Bluegrass Cardinal Classic allows players to take advantage of a live period in June with their high school team rather than their AAU team. Below you can read about the 2027 players that stood out to us throughout The Bluegrass Cardinal Classic Team Event and Individual Showcase (listed alphabetically by last name).
Please note: There are a few write-ups below that were already featured on X (@riseupsports1) during the event. Also please take into account that each of us only caught one game per team for the most part, so these notes were based on performance in that specific game. Please let us know if any of the information below is incorrect and we will get it fixed as soon as possible.

There was a stretch when I was watching Scott where Holcomb scored 9 straight points in a short stretch of time. She was running the floor well and really getting after defensively. Outside shot was looking good and had some nice finishes around the basket.

Jenkins quietly gets things done whether on the defensive or offensive end. Disruptive on the defensive end and can put up points in a hurry.

Fundamentally sound. Great feel for the game. Capable of scoring in bunches. Elite shot blocker for a guard/wing with great length. Can attack going left or right. Strong with the ball in her hands. Great rebounder with a high motor. High IQ player!

Knowles was looking tough in both games I saw her play. She had some nice, crafty finishes around the basket. Elevated over defenders to knock down shots. Used length very well to making things hard defensively. Showed some excellent shot blocking skills and grabbed rebounds off the rim.

Logue is a knockdown shooter with deep range, but she can score in a variety of ways beyond knocking down triples. Runs the floor well and makes good decisions with the ball. Made some really nice passes and really contributed in a lot of different ways.

McCauley caught fire from 3 and never looked back. While her teammates did a great job locating her, she also did a great job finding the openings on the perimeter. Moves well without the ball. Unselfish. Really love how hard she plays and the hustle she showed.

McCurry showed a lot of versatility with the ability to play inside or outside of the perimeter. Moved so well when she was playing inside, consistently giving teammates a place to dish it. Saw the floor and made some great, strong passes. Was strong on the boards and fought for rebounds. Nice finishes around the rim.

Lightning quick PG who does a tremendous job of pushing temp. Good ball handler who plays under control. Great passer and floor vision with a high basketball IQ. Defensively, she’s a pest with good strength and great quickness who moves her feet well and has active hands!

Always very impressed by Noel’s game, but especially when I watch her closely even when she doesn’t have the ball in her hands. She has a great feel for the game and is always thinking a play ahead. Excellent passer. High IQ guard play and great shooter as well. True 3 level scoring threat.

Peterson was looking tough and provided a strong inside presence for Scott. Had some really tough finishes around the basket, scoring through contact. Made some strong post moves and created good space from defenders. Blocked and altered shots around the rim consistently throughout the game.

What really impresses me about Spiers is her willingness to do whatever she can to help her team win without trying to do too much, especially considering she’s a very talented player who could easily try to take over herself. Instead, she works extremely hard on the boards, grabbing rebounds as soon as they come off the rim. Sees the floor and makes good passes in transition and in half court sets. Recognizes when to take it and score. Disruptive defender.

Extremely quick guard who plays under control and does a tremendous job of changing speeds, both offensively and defensively. Excellent ball handler with an elite level feel for the game. Excellent passer with great court vision. A pest on defense who anticipates well, using her mix of foot speed, physicality, and heart to come up with deflections, loose balls, and rebounds. Capable of scoring from anywhere on the floor. The type of player you love when she’s on your team and dread when she’s on the opposing squad.

Can literally do it all, handles the ball under pressure, creates shots for herself and others, defends at a high level, finishes around the rim and don’t give her any space cause she can knock down the long ball as well.

Warner is poised to have a breakout season. Such solid play on both ends of the court and a smart player overall. Has good length and uses it well. Good shooter who can knock them down from anywhere on the floor. Made some excellent moves around the basket and handled contact well. Also rebounded well.

Wetton made some smart plays with the ball consistently throughout the game. Saw the floor well. Has a nice jumper and good elevation on her jump shot. Plays hard.
